Policy:

The Lesson
Please arrive ready to swim. Allow time to disrobe and apply suntan lotion prior to the start of the lesson. Lessons begin and end promptly at the scheduled times, no exceptions. A five minute warning is given before the conclusion of each lesson. 

Scheduling and Paying for a Lesson
To schedule or reschedule a lesson, please contact A Lap Ahead directly at 213.713.6059. Instructors, other than Amanda Kelly, are not responsible for scheduling a lesson or managing payment(s). 

Tardiness
Please make it a priority to attend each lesson.  If you are tardy for any portion of a scheduled lesson, that time is considered lost and no make up time is available.  All missed lessons without prior notice of cancellation will be charged.  Please note: An instructor is only required to remain at a location for 15 minutes past the start of the lesson time.

Cancellation
If you know you are going to miss a lesson, please call 213.713.6059 as soon as possible.  A Lap Ahead requires at least 24 hours notice of cancellation in order to qualify for a make up lesson. In the event of sudden illness, please call first thing in the morning, no later than 9am to cancel and request a make up lesson.

Weather
A Lap Ahead swims rain or shine unless there are signs of an electrical storm. In the event of visible lightning or uncertainty, please call 213.713.6059 to check the status of a lesson.

The A Lap Ahead Approach
A Lap Ahead instructors are trained to do the following. (1) Always keep an eye on your child; Make safety first! (2) Avoid whenever possible any prolonged negative reactions from your child such as coughing, crying, and screaming; (3) Nurture growth and learning with positive reinforcement; (4) Create a safe learning environment, both physical and psychological, to the best of their ability; (5) Have fun with your child to facilitate learning. At the conclusion of each lesson, instructors will give comments on your child’s progress for the day. It is important your child connect with the instructor. If for any reason you wish to change instructors, please call 213.713.6059 and we will be happy to assist you further.

Pool Preparedness
Please be sure the pool is ready for each lesson. The pool temperature should be within 82 to 90 degrees depending on the weather. Lessons that are cancelled by the instructor due to pool temperature (too hot or too cold) will be charged.

Parent, Nanny, Household Note
After the First Lesson and/or once you feel a connection has been made between your child and the instructor, A Lap Ahead asks that you watch from a distance preferably out of sight from both your child and the instructor.  Most important is that you or anyone in your household refrain from adding your own instructions during the lesson as it can be confusing to your child and distracting to the instructor.

Refunds
Make up lessons are provided with 24 hours notice of cancellation.
